An unfinished field guide to living with curiosity.

Welcome to roots, my little corner of the internet where I document the projects, experiments, and thoughts that make up my life. This blog is a journal—a catalog of the quirks, questions, and ideas that come from carving out a life on my family’s homestead, the same land where I grew up. It’s a blank canvas, a place to try things, fail, learn, and start again. Some days, it’s about building something with my hands; other days, it’s about untangling the philosophies and frameworks that shape how we see the world. It’s messy, unfinished, and honest—just like me.

I’ve never been one to stick to a single lane. I’m a thinker, a tinkerer, and a curious soul who loves to start things and see where they lead. You won’t find a manifesto here, or a guide on how to live your life. Instead, you’ll find my perspective as a millennial guy from the evangelical South, figuring things out as I go, balancing the rural rhythms of life on the homestead with the infinite connectedness of the internet. My hope is that by sharing my journey—whether it’s a philosophical rabbit hole, a DIY experiment, or a reflection on what it means to live with intention—it’ll spark your curiosity and remind you that there’s meaning to be made wherever you are.

I grew up on this land, spending summers running through cornfields that are now part of my yard. Years later, I’ve returned home to this little homestead to carve out a life that’s equal parts familiar and new. It’s a blank canvas, a place where I can build, experiment, and reflect—on the projects I start, the questions I ask, and the person I’m becoming. This blog, is where I catalog that journey. It’s not a polished guide or a lesson in how to live. It’s simply a journal—a collection of moments, ideas, and experiments that show how we can weave together our passions, quirks, and curiosities to make a life that’s uniquely ours.

Here, you’ll find the intersection of two worlds: the rural, grounded life of the homestead and the infinite possibilities of the connected world. You’ll see my perspective as a millennial from the evangelical South, navigating big questions about faith, progress, and meaning while tinkering with projects, ideas, and frameworks that help me make sense of it all. This collection is a work in progress...just like myself. My hope is that by sharing the process—the successes, failures, and everything in between—you’ll feel inspired to explore your own unique gifts and bring them to life in ways that matter to you and your community.
